KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s quest for South East Asia (SEA) Games golfing glory received a further boost on Tuesday as Srixon Sports Asia handed over their sponsorship to the Kuala Lumpur 2017 squad.

The sponsorship comprises of Harimau Malaysia-inspired golfing merchandise, namely travel covers, golf bags, duffel bags, shoe bags as well as umbrellas.

This is the second collaboration between the leading Japanese golf brand and the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) – the first coming two years ago for the 2015 Singapore Games.

“Srixon is excited and extremely proud to sponsor the Malaysian SEA Games golf squad ahead of the 29th edition of the biennial games in our beautiful Kuala Lumpur,” said Srixon Sports Asia managing director Tommy Ieda.

“For decades, we have shown our commitment to professional tour players across Asia and we are pleased to extend similar support to the Malaysian Golf Association in their bid to secure glory for the country,” he added.

The MGA also unveiled its final squad that will feature at The MINES Resort & Golf Club from August 22-26 with Ervin Chang, Galven Kendall Green, Chan Tuck Soon and Danial Durisic in the men’s team while Nur Durriyah Damian, Loy Hee Ying and Ashley Lau Jen Wen make up a formidable ladies trio.

“The Malaysian Golf Association together with Srixon Sports Asia  would like to congratulate the players who made the final selection and wish them all the best in carrying the hopes and dreams of the Malaysian golf fraternity,” said MGA president Senator Admiral (R) Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor.

“The Malaysian Golf Association is very fortunate to receive support from our amazing sponsors, including Srixon. It is with the continued support from the private sector that MGA is able to provide the necessary training preparation for our athletes to excel in the international arena,” shared Anwar.
