Gavin Kyle Green’s steady progress as he adapts to the unaccustomed vagaries of links golf, and the entirely new experience of competing in a Major, was much in evidence during round three of The Open Championship.
A two-over par 73 in the second round of The Open Championship, added to his first day 72, means that Gavin Green of Malaysia was the last player to make the cut in this year’s third Major. It means he will be at Carnoustie for the weekend in his first ever Open.

I was able to catch up with Gavin Green once again on Wednesday – this time after he completed a nine-hole practice on Carnoustie’s tough back nine.
I had the opportunity to follow Gavin Kyle Green for two hours during his practice round on Tuesday and the reigning Asian Tour number one was soaking it up as he prepares in earnest for what is his Major debut at the 147th playing of The Open Championship this week.
