Shah Alam [SELANGOR]: In a bid to revive the domestic golf tourism industry battered by the Covid-19 pandemic, Tourism Selangor has joined forces with Liberty Golf Services to stage the inaugural Selangor Golf Classic.

Scheduled for September 29 and 30, 2020, the 36-hole amateur golf tournament will descend on two of Selangor’s golfing gems – The MINES Resort and Golf Club in Seri Kembangan and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam.

Participants will first play at The MINES, which remains one of the country’s most exclusive golf courses. The course requires accurate approach shots to well-contoured greens, but the fairways are wide and accommodating off the tees. Grassy roll-offs, hollows, and tight chipping areas encourage short game artistry.

The tournament will then continue to the 6,396 metre par-72 Kota Permai Golf & Country Club. Well known for its superb course conditioning, the high-rated championship course with its tree-lined fairways and waterways stands out as an exceptional golfing test.

For a fee of just RM999, participants of the Selangor Golf Classic will enjoy two competitive rounds of golf with breakfast and lunch at both venues as well as an attractive goodie bag from Srixon, which includes a stand golf bag, polo shirt, cap and golf balls among other items, which is no less than RM1,200 in value.

In addition to the gross contest, the tournament will use a modified System 36 Stableford scoring system to determine the winners in the Medal A (hcp 0-12) and Medal B (hcp 13-24) categories. Great prizes and lucky draw giveaways worth above RM30,000 await the winners of this year’s winners.

With our international borders still closed, we believe golfers from across the country will be excited to travel down to Selangor for this exciting event,” said Liberty Golf Services general manager Ng Eushen.

He added that participants could sign up for an optional practice round at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club as well enjoy preferential rates  for accomodation at Sunway Hotel.
