Tourism Selangor stages annual golf meet

Bukit Beruntung [SELANGOR]: The third edition of the Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2021 was played at the Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club on December 12.

The tournament was teed off by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who joined a bumper field of 130 participants, comprising state leaders, representatives from state government-linked companies, captains of industries, golf tourism players, celebrity golfers, golf enthusiasts, and members of the media.

The tournament once again proved to be an excellent occasion to foster friendship and camaraderie between the various stakeholders from the government, private sector, and the tourism industry.

Speaking after prize presentation ceremony, Selangor State Executive Councillor – Environment, Green Technology, Tourism and Indigenous Affairs Lee Hoy Sian shared: “Having taken a step into the Phase 4 of National Recovery Plan, it is the right time to reset the tourism industry in Selangor, and in particular, revive golf tourism to its glory days”.

“Golf tourism poses a vast potential in drawing significant number of tourists into the State, as well as contributes prominently towards the State’s economy. Golf has emerged as one of the fastest-growing tourism trends, and Tourism Selangor has done an outstanding job with its various initiatives, including hosting this tournament,” he noted.

The tournament was proudly presented with the kind support of MBI Selangor, Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Tourism Malaysia, Selangor State Development Corporation, Malaysian Golf Association, Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation, Westport Malaysia Bhd, Northport Malaysia Bhd, Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd, KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd, Srixon, Titoni of Switzerland, Liquid Marketing Sdn Bhd, Farm in the City, Puas Snack Pack, and Liberty Golf Services.
