Leyte, The Philippines; May 12: Alexes Nallos (left) overcame an exciting tussle with Regina De Guzman to claim the third Faldo Series Philippines Championship at TAT Filipinas Golf Club in San Pedro.
A closing 75 by Nallos saw the 19-year-old pip De Guzman to the title by one shot in the opening event of the 2011/2012 Faldo Series Asia. The duo had shared a five-shot lead going into the third and final round.
As winners of the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-21 divisions respectively, Nallos and De Guzman both qualified for the sixth Asia Grand Final, set for March next year at its traditional home, the Mission Hills Golf Club in China. Cho Byung Kyu (Boys’ Under-18), LJ Go (Boys’Under-16) and Princess Superal (Girls’Under-16) topped their respective age-groups to also book their berths to the World Amateur Golf Ranking event in Shenzen.
The 2011/2012 Faldo Series Asia schedule will feature a record 18 tournaments in 14 different countries including five in mainland China plus others in The Philippines, Vietnam, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Brunei, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan, Indonesia and Thailand.
