Malaysia stay in contention for team event golds

Singapore, June 4: Malaysia remained in contention for the boys’ and girls’ team event golds at the halfway point of the golf championship at the 3rd ASEAN Schools Games.

While the nation’s golfers continue to trail Kwanchai Kongtavee of Thailand  and Indonesia’s Ika Woro Palupi in the individual standings, team Malaysia were two and six strokes adrift of their northern rivals in the girls’ and boys’ team events respectively at Seletar Country Club.

A round of 71 today saw Chan Tuck Soon improve to second on two-over 146, six strokes behind Kongtavee (140) while Muhammad Afif Muhammad Razif and Jeremiah Kim were bunched up on 148 with three other players after carding rounds of 73 and 74 respectively.

In the girls’ division, Vivienne Chin was fourth on 151 after a round of 77 while Aretha Pan Herng moved up to fifth on 152 after shooting a 73 today.
