
Kuala Lumpur: Permanis Sdn Bhd recently inked a sponsorship deal with Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) which will see the beverage manufacturers coming on board as the the official sports drink for the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour 2011 through its Gatorade brand.
“This is a significant tie-up with an isotonic beverage brand which is world renowned. PGM is indeed happy to have Gatorade on board for the PGM Tour 2011. I am sure the professional golfers will be delighted with the thirst quenching and rehydrating properties of Gatorade,” said PGM chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid at the signing ceremony.
“We are happy that Permanis shares our vision in promoting the sport of golf and have come forward to contribute towards its development and growth, with their sponsorship of the PGM Tour,” he added.
Selvarajah said that it was indeed an honour for Permanis to be associated with PGM and its Tour. “PGM under the able leadership of Tun Ahmad Sarji, whose vision for the game is to put Malaysian golf on a new pedestal, is the right party indeed to lead professional golf in Malaysia towards a new era. Gatorade is proud to be associated with PGM and Tun’s vision which includes to put at least 20 players on the Asian Tour in the next few years.
“We are confident that both PGM and Gatorade with our presence amongst the international sports personalities will grow to reach greater heights in the near future, as we share the same dream to strive for excellence always.”
The burgeoning tour was launched on Dec 27 with the first leg at Impian Golf & Country Club and has since seen eleven events conducted, including two legs on the Asian Development Tour legs. A total sum of RM1.52 million has been given out as prize money so far this year.
