Kuala Lumpur: Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM) have re-affirmed their commitment to the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour by agreeing to title sponsor the CCM Rahman Putra Masters.

The RM200,000 tournament,  which is the first of nine Asian Development Tour (ADT) co-sanctioned events on the tour’s 2013 schedule, will take place at Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia from January 30 to February 2.

The chemical conglomerate, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, has been among the burgeoning domestic circuit’s longest-running partners with its support dating back to the Tour’s inception in 2011.

PGM chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said CCM’s continued investment in the Tour exemplifies the Group’s support and commitment in promoting golf through top-class tournaments which also generates greater public awareness and inspires local players to pursue the sport at a professional level.

“Some 22 tournaments have been lined up for this year’s Tour, indicating that our local tournaments are fast gaining a bigger interest and popularity amongst professional golfers,” said Ahmad Sarji during a cheque presentation ceremony on Tuesday.

CCM group managing director Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir reaffirmed CCM’s pledge to support the event through 2015 and expressed confidence in the tournament’s continued growth.

“The high standard set by the PGM Tour is a testament to the quality of the participating golfers and we are proud and honoured to be part of such a tournament that showcases the up-and-coming names in Asian professional golf,” said Amirul.

“We believe that high profile tournaments such as the PGM CCM Rahman Putra Masters 2013 will greatly contribute to the emergence of a new crop of top Malaysian players who will challenge for honours in the region. On the longer term, we look forward to Malaysian professionals accomplishing themselves and emulating the success of the current crop of top stars from Korea, Japan, China and Thailand on the PGA and European Tours.

“As CCM celebrates its 50th anniversary celebration this year, the tournament embodies the Group’s qualities of growing from strength to strength as we continue to meet and exceed customer expectations in years to come,” he added.
