Subang: A three-under 69 gave Australian Jarryd Felton a slim one-stroke advantage after the second round of the 27th MPI-Saujana Amateur Championship on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old Aussie totalled five-under of 139 at the Bunga Raya tract of Saujana Golf & Country Club with Thailand’s Danthai Boonma hot on his tail on 140.
Newly crowned Malaysian Amateur Open Cory Crawford of Australia bounced back from a lethargic opening round with a course record five-under 67 to lie a further shot back in third.
Filipino Justin Quiban returned with a second consecutive 71 to remain in contention as local hope and overnight joint leader Low Khai Jei slipped down the leaderboard with a six-over 78 to lie tied 11th.
Perth native Felton expressed confidence in his game with three of his birdies coming on the outward nine. “My game was about the same as yesterday, just hitting fairways and greens but I came off without a bogey, which was a plus point,” said Felton, who admitted to only pulling it out his driver on a single hole.
