Shah Alam [SELANGOR]: Singapore claimed the annual Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) – Singapore Golf Association (SGA) challenge on Wednesday, extending their run of unbroken victories to four since 2011.
The visitors overcame the hosts by a narrow margin, accumulating 12½ points to Malaysia’s 11½ at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, thanks to a 6½ – 5½ outcome in the singles contest.
The two neighbouring nations came into the final day level on 6-all after the opening fourball and foursome sessions on Tuesday.
Lucius Toh provided the winning point for the Lions as he beat Muhd Wafiyuddin Abdul Manaf on the final hole, after the national campaigner was controversially penalised a stroke on the 16th hole for lifting his ball without permission (Rule 20-1/Decision 20-1/8).
