Kuala Lumpur: The ClubHouse is proud to announce an award in honour of the late Ali Kadir – 15 years after his unexpected death aged just 31.
Ali Kadir was an exceptional golfing professional, who in his short life made an extraordinary impact for the sport of golf, in the country and across the region.
A prolific winner on home soil, Ali represented a confident and savvy side of Malaysian professional golf, which was very much in its infancy then.
Reputed to be one of Malaysia’s most gifted ball strikers, the hard-working Ali reigned as the national number one for an extended period in the late 90s and was a feared competitor on the Asian circuit.
A straight forward and principled man, Ali was a beacon of hope for up-and-coming rookie professionals, always prepared to offer words of encouragement and never shied away from dipping into his own pockets to help a needy peer.
The ClubHouse is committed to continue Ali’s legacy.
We are proud to announce the launch of the Ali Kadir Memorial Trophy, in conjunction with The ClubHouse Junior Golf Rankings presented by Titleist.
The annual award will be bestowed upon a junior golfer, who exhibits outstanding sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct, combined with a high standard of playing ability and success on the junior amateur ranks.
Through this award, we continue our investment in the future of Malaysian golf by inspiring the winner to realise his/her ambition and potential to become a star of the future.
A select panel of industry stakeholders has been formed to decide on the recipient of this award.
The ClubHouse is grateful for the support of donors, who have it made possible for us to recognise the contributions of the late Ali Kadir.
