Kangar [PERLIS]: Sukree Othman tamed the challenging Putra Golf Club course to clinch the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Perlis Championship on Saturday.

Sukree secured his first win on the flourishing domestic circuit in over three years, trading a birdie and bogey apiece for a closing 72 to seal a slim one-shot victory on five-under 283.

Nachimuthu, who trailed by two shots overnight, could only muster a one-under 71, mixing three birdies and two bogeys to finish sole second in the RM180,000 tournament.

Joint third round leader Wilson Choo finished a further two shots back after a birdie-less 75 while Khor Kheng Hwai (72) settled for fourth on even-par 288.

Sukree was delighted to secure his sixth Tour title on his return to the Perlis tract, where he emerged victorious in July 2013.

“I had a good vibe coming into the week and fortunately, I was able to translate it to a victory. Been in contention a number of times since winning here in Perlis but except for the PGA Championship last year, I’ve not been to convert my chances, especially on the final day. I hope it [winning] becomes a habit,” said the 37-year-old.
