Sixth Terengganu Masters to tee-off next month

Kuala Terengganu, May 23: More than 100 professional golfers from eight countries including Malaysia, will compete in the four-day Terengganu Masters Golf Invitational 2011 at the Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort in Tok Jembal from June 3.

The championship will feature 88 professional players from Malaysia and 35 from several foreign countries including Australia, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore, together with 20 amateur players.

According to Terengganu state Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage committee chairman Datuk Abdul Rahin Mohd Said, Singapore are sending the biggest number of golfers (13), followed by nine from Taiwan.

“Also taking part in the championship is winner of the Pakistan Masters 2008, Airil Rizman from Malaysia,” he told a media conference here Monday.

Abdul Rahin said the championship was organized with the aim of promoting Terengganu as a renowned professional destination for golf.
“With the participation from foreign countries it will help introduce Terengganu as a golf destination at the international level,” he said.

The championship which enters its sixth year offers an overall prize money of RM150,000.
