Rain plays havoc with Mt. Malarayat opening round

Batangas, Philippines; June 8: The first round of the ICTSI Mt. Malarayat Championship was washed out today after heavy rain resulted in play being suspended until tomorrow.

None of the 90 players competing were able to complete their rounds while the afternoon session had not even teed off at Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club.

The ICTSI Mt. Malarayat Championship is the second event on this year’s ASEAN PGA Tour and features a stellar field including Filipinos Juvic Pagunsan, Mars Pucay and Jay Bayron plus leading Thais Thanyakon Khrongpha, Wisut Artjanawat and Atthaphon Prathumanee.

Play was stopped at 12.35 in the afternoon and at 14.55 the decision was taken to suspend play for the day. The first group was on the 11th hole when play was halted.

Players will restart tomorrow at 6.30am with round two beginning at 2pm. Most of the big name players had not teed off.

Pagunsan, winner of last year’s ASEAN PGA Tour Order of Merit title, is attempting to win the title for the first time having finished second last season.
