Second straight win for Nachimuthu

Kuala Terengganu; June 7: R. Nachimuthu once again proved the comeback king after emerging victorious at the Terengganu Masters Golf Invitational 2011 today.

The 40-year-old registered a closing round of three-under-par 69 at the Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort to usurp overnight leader to the title and reigning champion M. Sasidaran by one stroke.

The victory, coming just two weeks after he garnered his first professional win in five years at the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Penang Classic, is testament to the hard work the seasoned professional has put in despite having no personal backers to aid his playing career in recent years.

“I’m happy that all those hours of practice is paying off now. No doubt, it’s been tough but I’ve just kept my head down and got on with honing my game. Age is definitely catching up, so there’s no replacement for good, hard work. I hope to stay motivated and keep winning,” said Nachimuthu,  who walked home with the winner’s purse of RM23,250.

Akhmal Tarmizee Nazari was further back in third place on 209.
