Hong Kong: Vivienne Chin and Mohd Hisyam Abdul Majid (pic)were the nation’s best performers in the first round of the 51st South East Asia Amateur Golf Team Championship  held at Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club in Hong Kong today.

Hisyam opened his Putra Cup campaign with a round of even-par 70 to lie tied second alongside Rinaldi Adiyandono, one shot behind Indonesia’s George Gandranata.  Similarly, Vivienne is joint second with with Dottie Ardina of the Philippines in the Santi Cup standings after registering a round of two-under 68 today, one shot behind early leader Pinrath Loomboonruang of Thailand.

Low Khai Jei was the best placed Malaysian after the opening round of the Lion City Cup, carding a 73 to lie four shots behind leader Chanchok Dejpiratamongkol of Thailabd

In the Putra Cup team standings, Indonesia raced to an early five shot lead over Singapore while the Filipino lasses combined for 297 to take a three-shot lead in the Santi Cup. Malaysia were placed joint fourth with Myanmar on 219 in the Putra Cup and fourth in the six-team Santi Cup. Thailand combined for a best-three score of 215 to hold a three-shot lead over defending champions Philippines.
