Kuala Lumpur: Veteran professional M. Ramayah has informed the Professional Golf Association of Malaysia (PGAM) on his decision not to skipper the Malaysian team at the Prudential Causeway Trophy later next month.

The ClubHouse understands that the 13-time World Cupper made up his mind after learning that the new dates for the Malaysia vs Singapore team matchplay event will clash directly with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour’s Perlis Championship. Ramayah is a player representative on the board of the PGM.

The second edition of the Causeway Trophy is now set to be played at the World Classic course at Laguna National Golf & Country Club from June 20-22

Chong Chee Ming, who captained the team at the inaugural edition last year, looks set to get the nod again as the Malaysians seek to avenge their humbling 8 ½-15½ defeat to the Lions.

Meanwhile, current Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Order of Merit leader R. Nachimuthu and Airil Rizman Zahari have pulled out of the initial 12-man squad named last month. They will be replaced by promising youngster Kenneth De Silva and Md Rashid Ismail.
