Georgetown [PENANG]: Iylia Jamil continued with his solid display at Penang Golf Club by moving into the halfway lead at the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Penang Championship on Thursday.
The 24-year-old followed up on his opening 67 with a three-under 69, trading six birdies with two bogeys to total eight-under 136 in the RM180,000 tournament co-sanctioned with the ASEAN PGA Tour.
It gave one-time Tour winner a narrow one stroke advantage over an in-form Nicholas Fung, who climbed to second with a 67.
First round leader M. Sasidaran struggled to a one-over 73 and is three strokes off the pace on 139 alongside Mohd Amli Mohiyedeen (68), R. Nachimuthu (71), Kenneth De Silva (71) and Mohd Sukree Othman (69).
