Jasin [MELAKA]: There’s no stopping Ben Leong as the Sabahan romped to a remarkable 20-stroke victory at the Professional Golf of Malaysia  (PGM) Tiara Melaka Championship on Saturday.

The 30-year-old capped a record-breaking run at the Tiara Melaka Golf and Country Club, becoming the first player to clinch a hat-trick of titles on the flourishing domestic circuit – adding to his wins at the Orna and IGT Championships in recent weeks.

Leong also bettered the Tour’s winning-margin record, which he previously held with a 14-shot victory at the Perlis Championship in 2015.

Four consecutive rounds in the 60s, including a pair of closing 68s saw the former Asian Tour winner coasts to a 20-under-par 268 overall and his fourth win of the season. He is projected to move to second place on the PGM Tour Order of Merit.

Sasidaran Muthiah topped the race for second place, a 74 proving enough for the seasoned campaigner to finish a shot clear of Tan Chien Hau and Nachimuthu Ramasamy, who returned with matching 73s.
