KUALA LUMPUR: Success State-side is nothing new for Natasha Andrea Oon but the 16-year-old will take it a step further this month when she tees-off at US Girls’ Junior Championship.

Oon carded a round of one-over 73 at the Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino, California to nick an invite to the 69th iteration of the prestigious championship.

The fourth-ranked Malaysian – a two-time Honda Junior Classic winner – will be among 156 junior girls from across the globe to feature at the Boone Valley Golf Club in Missouri from July 24-29.

Oon’s 2017 form has been quite impressive – winning the Selangor Amateur Open in March before finishing second and third respectively at the Johor Amateur Open and the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open.

The US Junior Girls’ will be contested over two rounds of strokeplay before the top-64 players advance into a matchplay knockout contest.

Notable past champions include three-time winner Hollis Stacy, Mickey Wright, Nancy Lopez, Amy Alcott, JoAnne Gunderson Carner, Pat Hurst, I.K. Kim, Inbee Park, Lexi Thompson and Ariya Jutanugarn –  boasting 11 Major victories amongst them.
