KUALA LUMPUR: World number two Ariya Jutanugarn will bolster a stellar line-up for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, which returns to TPC Kuala Lumpur from October 26-29.
Jutanugarn, the first golfer – male or female – from Thailand to win a Major championship, will be joined in the field by Danielle Kang, who picked up her maiden Major victory last month at the 2017 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Also confirming her appearance is American Jessica Korda, who won the last of her four LPGA titles in the Malaysian capital two years ago.
TPC Kuala Lumpur chief executive officer and Sime Darby LPGA tournament committee chairman Steven Thielke said the addition of the three star players to the 2017 edition of the tournament is testament to the importance of the event on the LPGA circuit.
“Together with our partners at the LPGA Tour, the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia prides itself on delivering a stellar field year in, year out, and 2017 will certainly be no exception.
“We look forward to welcoming Ariya, Jessica and Danielle back to TPC Kuala Lumpur and to showing them some true Malaysian hospitality. The tournament is shaping up very nicely and will be another fantastic spectacle for all the visitors that join us this October,” he said.
Defending champion Shanshan Feng, Lydia Ko and Canadian swinging sensation Brooke Henderson have already committed to the US$1.8 million event, which forms part of the Asian Swing on the world’s biggest female circuit.
